Okay, Here’s the Real Reason I’m Gone

Gladd FB Family TreeSo, this is the real reason for the lack of blog posts.  I’m sure most of you have suspected already! 🙂  I really wanted to bake something cute to make the announcement on my blog, but I have to admit, I’m still not up for being in the kitchen.  What’s worse, is even the thought of my food blog makes me nauseous right now!  So, you get the same announcement as the rest of my friends and family.

This is our first baby, and we’re very ecstatic.  If any of you have pointers on what you ate to help the nausea, please please leave your posts.  I’ve been craving McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets!  Seriously!?  I never liked them until now.  Pretty crazy.

At this time, I am not sure when I’ll be back to real posts.  Hopefully soon!!  I’m sick of being sick!  🙂  Thanks for sticking it out with me.

  1. Congragulations.
Love the pic which you have done 🙂

  2. Congratulations!!!!! I hope your nausea passes soon and you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

  3. Congrats and H&H 9 months! I feel your pain, I’m due December 5th! I still have bad nausea and I’m 14 wks today! I finally got prescribed a generic form of Zofran, I highly recommend it. Also, hard candy (especially lemon drops) seems to help…I’ve tried almost everything else (short of eating ground ginger from my cabinet LOL). I’ve tried ginger snaps, ginger ale (somewhat helps, not really), preggie pops (no help what-so-ever) and I’ve tried extra Vitamin B6 (also no help). Different things work for different people, but if this keeps up, I’d ask your doctor for some Zofran (or a generic equivalent). GL and congrats again!

  4. Congrats!! How exiciting – hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months 🙂

  5. Congratulations to you! Here’s to a happy & healthy 9 months.

Strangely enough I had ever oddball ailment when I was pregnant with the twins but never any of the “normal” ones.

    Keep us posted….

  9. congratulations!! so excited for you!! try ginger caplets (from Wal-Mart in the vitamin aisle). they seemed to help a litte for me. are you going to find out the gender??? if so, please post it on your blog.

  10. Congratulations!!!

  11. Congratulations!

  12. Congratulations!!!!
For me, ginger ale and cheese nips helped with the nausea. It never completely went away but those things helped some.

  13. 🙂 I craved Taco Bell and Boston Market Mac & Cheese during my first trimester. 🙂 I promise it gets better.

For future reference (assuming you’re through the worst of it) sour things help – green apples, Jolly Ranchers, lollipops – and supposedly, ginger. Try ginger snaps.

  14. Congrats! Hope you’re feeling better soon!

  15. Congrats! I always found that Mentos helped my nausea.

  16. Congrats!!!! We’re so happy for you guys!

  17. Congrats! Just go with the cravings! My last child I wanted A&W Root Beer and red Hawaiian Punch in a can. I could not eat egg rolls at all.

  18. Congratulations!! Hope you get to feeling better soon!

  19. Many congrats! Hope you feel better soon. I don’t have any advice for you unfortunately. I didn’t really have that problem. Seems like my neighbor lived on Mt. Dew with both of her pregnancies.

  20. Congrats! Consider acupuncture. It can really help with morning sickness, heartburn, energy and aches and pains during pregnancy.

    Be well!

  21. congrats, very exciting news!

  22. Congratulations!!

  23. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here’s hoping you feel better ASAP!

  24. I feel your joy and I feel your nausea, too! During my first pregnancy, I was nauseous much of the first six months, but turned a corner and suddenly felt like a million bucks, so hang in there!
I never had that problem with the next three babies, but I had learned a thing or two by then, like eating buttered toast as soon as I got up. I’d turn the kettle on for Swiss Miss instant cocoa and the bread went into the toaster before I peed, even! But I got that stuff into my stomach quickly, and never had any trouble with nausea!
There are so many tips for morning sickness, and you’ll hear them all–good luck and I hope you hit on something very soon that works for you!

  25. Congrats!!! Hope you feel better soon!

  26. Nikki, I’m so happy for you and Ben! I have one word for you, sweetie – popsicles!!! They saved my life! Enjoy the second and third trimester!

  27. Potatoes! 2008 was officially the Year of the Potato… and boy was I glad. There are no rules, just follow your stomach… I had to eat 6 dry crackers before moving in the morning (thanks to husband bringing them before he went to work) and then two pieces of dry toast by 9am and then a baked potato with a little butter and salt by 12pm or I would be ill… for four months! But then I could eat fairly normally for the rest of the day, and by the second trimester I was back on most things. But raw veges, alcohol and coffee only went back on the menu once the babe was here. Good luck, my thoughts are with you!!

  28. Congrats! This is my first time checking out your blog. I am due in January and have also been absent from the kitchen due to relentless nausea – there really is nothing like it! I just started a new Rx – Zofran. It is a MIRACLE drug! I tried Fenigran (sp?) but had no luck. I would get on Zofran ASAP if you can. I’m happy to report I’m back in the kitchen and loving it! Best of luck and congrats again!

  29. Congratulations!

  30. Congratulations, and sorry about the morning sickness. I didn’t get it much, so I have no helpful tips. Everything passes though, even though, at the time it seems to be lasting forever. With regard to cravings though… they come in unexpected forms. I NEVER had a sweet tooth, until pregnancy. And now 6 months later, I still have it (unfortunately). But I’m becoming a pretty good baker because of it! I can’t resist a sweet recipe. I guess there are worse things. ha, ha. 🙂
