Ugly Christmas Sweater Party & Vote for Your Favorite Candy House

Ugly Christmas Sweater Party

We started co-leading a small group this year for church.  Wednesday was our Christmas party and the group decided to do an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party.  Everyone brought an appetizer and I served this cake for dessert.  (Got the idea from this site.)

Ugly Christmas Sweater Cake

Our activity for the party was to do a guys vs girls candy house making competition.  Everyone was really into it and it became pretty competitive!   Which one is YOUR favorite?

Here’s the guys’ house:

Here’s the girls’ house:

  1. I like the guy’s house. It is more festive (in a messy sort of way)

  2. girls house for sure, the boy’s house looks like a frosting/marshmellow bomb blew up 🙂

  3. What an awesome cake! I like the girls’ house 🙂

  4. The house by the girls for sure!

  5. LOL, I love that cake. So creative and cute, yet ugly at the same time =P

  6. I love how each house shows the difference between males and females!!!
The men’s house is messy, shows little concern for decorating details, yet shows architectural/structural detail, even though it looks like a good wind could blow it down. And ya gotta love the marshmallow snow!!!
The women’s house is neat, has clean lines, detailed lanscaping and use of color, a definite ‘Designed to Sell”!!! Is that a car in the background?! Love it!

    I think it’s a tie!!!

ps- this is Lucy’s mom. Merry Christmas!

  7. While the girls’ house is certainly the one I’d want to live next door to in the gingerbread neighborhood, I think I like the boys’ place better. I like the candy shingles, the added architectural interest of the roof soffit, and the circus peanut dude in the side yard who is unhappy- probably because his child is playing on the roof even though he clearly told little Graham not to.

The melty windows and what looks like shingle trash in the yard makes this the house you’d make fun of while driving by in the girls’ cookie convertable!

    The sweater cake is FABULOUS!

  8. You all look great! Love the cake! I vote for the girls’ cake. Very cute!

  9. Such a cute cake!
I vote for the guys house, although the girls is very cute too. But come on, they made people out of circus peanuts??? How can you beat that?

  10. Fran! I didn’t know you read my blog! Merry Christmas to you, too! 🙂

  11. I love the ugly Christmas sweater party idea! So funny!

  12. What a great party idea! The girls house for sure, but you got to give the guys props for trying!

  13. That cake is awesome!

  14. The ugly sweater cake is so cute! You are very creative. I like the fact that the guys used the white marshmallows for snow… but I’m going to have to go with the girls house, its pretty and the yard looks like it is icy, which is cool because there is a pretty path to walk on instead of slipping on the ice! 🙂
