Oreo Truffle Bombs

Oreo Truffles

This is my first post to the food blog, but it dates back a week ago when I intended to begin. For Super Bowl Sunday, we had 7 people over. Our evening snacks included shrimp cocktail, Eric’s bean dip, T’s spinach dip, cookies, cheese and crackers, chips, and my contribution… Oreo Truffle Bombs. And that is the title of tonight’s blog! I wanted to share a picture of this delightful dessert. It’s a mixture of crushed oreos, cream cheese and white chocolate with dark chocolate drizzled over each ball.

The steps include chopping a full bag oreos in a food processor or blender, then use your hands to mix in8 oz softened cream cheese. Cool the filling mixture and then roll into tablespoon sized balls then cool in fridge. Meanwhile, roughly chop the blocks of white chocolate and melt in a saucepan on very low heat, or in a double boiler. Using a toothpick, dip the oreo balls into the chocolate and set on a cookie sheet lined with wax or parchment paper and place back in fridge. Once hardened, drizzle melted semi-sweet or bitter-sweet chocolate over the balls and let harden again.  In this case, I stuck mini oreos on top. Then , voila! you have Oreo Truffle Bombs! Yum!

I used a toothpick to dip the balls into the chocolate, however, next time I might consider not melting the chocolate and instead chop it up into fine pieces and just roll the oreo and cream cheese mixture for a crumb shell.

There is a possibility that I might try to make these in other flavors and package them to sell. It’s something to toy with and think about? I think I could make a fun hobby out of it! What do you think?

  3. hey how did you drizzle the chocolate on top? did you just use a spoon?

  4. Actually, I used a fork… but i want to find a better method, that doesn’t allow clumps at a time.

  5. I am going to make some tonight, maybe I can figure out a drizzle method, I’m not too creative though, so not sure.

  6. I’m going to try this recipe for a retreat this weekend. I love your site, thanks for all the yummy recipes!
